Daimler unveiled today the new 2015 Mercedes CLS Class model range and revealed its complete engines list, its specifications and its full equipment list. Apart from the regular CLS, Mercedes also revealed the facelifted 2015 CLS63 AMG and the facelifted 2015 CLS Shooting Brake. All versions of the new Mercedes CLS (2015), including the high-performance AMG models, come with an updated interior and exterior design. We're not going to talk about the styling details, since they're quite obvious when viewing the photos. Some of the technological innovations brought by the 2015 CLS include the MULTIBEAM LED headlights, the 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission, networked driver assistance and safety systems and a progressive multimedia system with internet.
The 2015 Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake promises an increased boot capacity, which now measures up to 1,550 litres. The new MULTIBEAM LED headlamps of the 2015 Mercedes CLS feature 24 high-performance LEDs each, arranged in a special matrix, which is controlled by an Intelligent Light System. Each LED is dimmable in 255 stages. The anticipatory control allows an additional range of between 30 and 60 meters depending on the traffic situation.
2015 Mercedes CLS Engines and Specs:
- CLS220 BlueTEC: 4-cylinder diesel with fourth-generation common rail direct injection and two-stage turbocharging; 125 kW (170 hp) and 400 Nm of torque
- CLS250 BlueTEC: 150 kW (204 hp) and 500 Nm of torque
- CLS350 BlueTEC: V6 engine with 190 kW (258 hp) and 620 Nm of torque
- CLS400: 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine with biturbo drive; 245 kW (333 hp) and 480 Nm between 1,200 rpm and 4,000 rpm
- CLS500: 300 kW (408 hp) and 600 Nm of torque
- all-wheel-drive CLS250 BlueTEC 4MATIC and CLS400 4MATIC coming in the future.
The 2015 Mercedes CLS63 AMG and its Shooting Brake version are powered by the 5.5-liter v8 biturbo engine, which develops 430 kW (585 hp) and 800 Nm of torque. This is 20 kW (28 hp) and 80 Nm of torque more than its predecessor. The rear-wheel-drive version of the 2015 CLS63 AMG comes with a combined fuel consumption of 9.9 litres per 100 kilometers and a 231 g/km CO2 emissions level. The 2015 CLS63 AMG 4MATIC has a combined fuel economy of 10.6 litres per 100 km and a 248 g/km CO2 emissions level.
