BMW released today a new video of the new generation 2012 M5 filmed during a high speed testing session. The 2012 BMW M5 was tested for high speed stability and other factors on the Nardo race track in Italy. Unfortunately, BMW still hasn't released any official details regarding the engine of the 2012 M5 and its performance figures.

We can speculate that the 2012 BMW M5 is powered by a 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine that develops just under 570 hp and around 720 Nm of torque. BMW has already confirmed that the 2012 M5 will be available with the classic rear-wheel-drive system and with a new, all-wheel-drive system. This should make it more manageable in slippery conditions.

The 2012 BMW M5 will feature the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, but a manual might also be offered.

We'll have more details on the production 2012 BMW M5 soon. Meanwhile watch it during high speed testing in the video after the jump.
