Jeep premiered today at the New York auto show the new generation 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8, which frankly, is one mean looking machine. The power of the 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 comes from a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that develops an estimated 465 hp and 465 lb.-ft. of torque, with 90-percent of the torque being available between 2,800 and 6,000 rpm. The BMW X5M and X6M now have a very serious competitor. Jeep says the new 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 is able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.8 seconds. Its top speed however, is limited to 155 mph.

The new 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 is not just fast in a straight line. Jeep claims it can pull up to 0.9 G on the skid pad, so it can corner as well. Jeep equipped the 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 with

a new adaptive damping suspension managed by new Selec-Track system.

The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 comes with a new active valve exhaust system that enables the Fuel Saver Technology to save more fuel than before. Jeep estimates that it represents a 13 percent improvement on the highway.

Jeep's 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 offers steering wheel mounted paddle shifters, improved interior

quality and some very cool exterior looks.

Aside from the standard safety and comfort equipment, the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 also comes with a 825-watt, 19-speaker premium Harman Kardon audio surround-sound system and a 10-inch subwoofer. A big engine, a noisy exhaust and lots of power. It looks like Jeep's new Grand Cherokee SRT8 has it all.

The 2012 SRT8 Jeep Grand Cherokee will go on sale in the third quarter 2011. It's price will be announced at a later date.
