The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 UK price list was announced today, as the high-performance SUV goes on sale here. The Grand Cherokee SRT8's party piece is of course its engine. It's a massive 6424cc HEMI V8, which develops 470 hp and 465 lb ft. of torque. This is 50 hp and 45 lb ft. torque more than the 6.1 litre HEMI V8 it replaces. It would seem a bit odd that, in times when everybody is looking for ways to cut down the fuel consumption, Jeep is going for a larger displacement engine. Even though it’s larger than its predecessor is, the new Hemi V8 is equipped with Jeep's Fuel Saver Technology, which should offer a lower consumption. However, Jeep did not disclose the fuel consumption of the 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8.
What they did disclose are its performance figures. According to the official specifications, the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds and to keep on doing it until it reaches a top speed of 160 mph. Jeep says that the new SRT8 Grand Cherokee can stop from 60 mph in just 116 feet.
The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 comes with a long list of equipment, which includes, among others, a distinctive body kit, active head restraints, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and rain brake support.
The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 price for the British market is set at £58,995 OTR.
