Mazda announced today that the name of their future compact SUV, or crossover, will be the CX5 (CX-5). The 2012 CX5 will be Mazda's first model to incorporate the KODO – Soul of Motion design theme, while offer a range of SKYACTIV technologies. The new Mazda CX5 compact SUV is the production version of the Mazda Minagi concept, which had its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year.
Mazda announced that the world debut of the CX5 will take place at the 2011 Frankfurt International Motor Show. The new crossover will go on sale in 2012.
Mazda says that the CX5 will be full of innovative technologies, such as new-generation
engines, transmissions, bodyshell design and chassis engineering.
The price of the 2012 Mazda CX5 and the exact date when it will go on sale will be announced at a later date.
