Opel unveiled today the new generation of the 2012 Combo light commercial vehicle (LCV), which is based on the Fiat Doblo van. Fiat's version of the LCV received the International Van of the Year 2011 award, which means Opel's 2012 Combo might be a market success. The 2012 Opel Combo will be available with a choice between six engines: four diesel, one gasoline and a CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) unit. Opel's diesel versions of the 2012 Combo include a 1.3 CDTI and a 1.6 CDTI developing the same 66 kW/90 hp, a 1.6 CDTI version with 77 kW/105 hp and a 2.0 CDTI with an output of 99 kW/135 hp. The gasoline 2012 Combo is powered by a 1.4-liter engine developing 70 kW/95 hp, while the CNG model develops 88 kW/120 hp.

The 2012 Opel Combo range comes with either a 5-speed or a 6-speed manual transmission, and Start/Stop technology on the CNG version for improved fuel consumption.

Opel will sell the 2012 Combo in two versions: a short wheelbase model with a 3,800-liter cargo space, and a long wheelbase model with a 4,600-liter cargo space. Opel's 2012 Combo has a 54.4 cm loading height and a top-of-the-class aperture width. The two wheelbase measure 2,755 mm or 3,105 mm, giving the 2012 Combo a length of 4.39 and 4.74 meters respectively.

The van is available in two heights, 1.85 m and 2.10 m. It also offers three seating configurations, with two, five or seven seats.

The standard equipment list of the 2012 Opel Combo includes central locking, power steering, a height and reach adjustable steering column, electric windows, and a four-way adjustable driver's seat, an airbag for the driver, ABS brakes and a tire repair kit.

The 2012 Opel Combo price list and availability will be announced at a later date.
