If Citroen launches their updated entry-level model, the C1, its PSA partner, Peugeot, has to de the same. The updated 2012 Peugeot 107 was unveiled today. It offers a more sensible version of the model as it doesn't come with a fancy paddle-shifters gearbox of the C1. Peugeot's 107 2012 comes with a 5-speed manual transmission, mated to the same 998cc engine as the one used in the 2012 Citroen C1. With this unit under its tiny hood, the 2012 Peugeot 107 develops 68 bhp at 6,000rpm and 70 lb ft (93Nm) of torque at 3,600rpm. The 2012 Peugeot 107 is rated with a fuel consumption of 55.38mpg / 74.33mpg / 65.69mpg in the urban / extra urban / combined cycle respectively, and a 99 g/km CO2 emissions level.

In case you're wondering about its performance, Peugeot claims that it can reach a top speed of 100 mph and that it can get from 0 to 62 mph in 14.2 seconds. The 2012 Peugeot 107 won't win you any drag racing titles, but it will take you around town safely and efficiently.

In comparison to the previous generation, the Peugeot 107 2012 comes with several updates, apart from the obvious visual modifications. Its equipment list includes LED lights, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, and the "Just Add Fuel" personal finance package.

The 2012 Peugeot 107 price list starts at £7,995 GBP for the 3-Door Access version and goes up to £9,345 GBP for the 5-Door Active model. The new Peugeot 107 will go on sale in February 2012.
