Toyota released today the images, full specifications and a video of the latest generation 2012 Camry. The 2012 Toyota Camry, called Atara on some markets, will be available in dealerships from October 2011. For the 2012 Camry model year, Toyota chose a new exterior and interior design, offering more interior space, improved quality materials, more sound proofing and better dynamics. The front fascia and a rear of the 2012 Camry have been re-styled, to meet the requirements of the current market.
The 2012 Toyota Camry will be available with a choice between two engines: a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder, aluminum alloy block with aluminum alloy head and a 3.5-liter, 6-cylinder unit. The 2.5-liter version of the 2012 Camry comes
equipped with Twin-cam, 4-valves per cylinder with Dual VVT-i and it develops 178 hp at 6,000 rpm and 170 lb-ft of torque at 4,100 rpm. Toyota says that the 2012 Camry 2.5 will offer a 28 mpg fuel consumption on the combined cycle, 25 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.
The larger displacement version of Toyota's 2012 Camry, the V6, has an output of 268 hp at 6,200 rpm and 248 lb-ft of torque at 4,700 rpm. the fuel consumption of the 2012 Camry V6 is rated at 21 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway and 25 mpg on the combined cycle.
Unfortunately, Toyota did not disclose the 0-62 mph acceleration time and the top speed of the 2012 Camry. Both versions of the new generation model comes with a transaxle front-wheel drive system and a 6-speed ECT-i automatic transmission.
As always, Toyota is very concerned with the safety of its customers. In the case of the 2012 Camry, Toyota offers it's Star Safety System as a standard. This system includes ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, the Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), and Traction Control (TRAC). apart from these systems, Toyota also equipped the
2012 Camry with 10 standard airbags.
The 2012 Toyota Camry comes with a rich array of equipment, from Bluetooth hands-free capability, air conditioning, and cruise control, to projector beam headlamps, USB and iPod connectivity, and a satellite navigation system.
The new Camry 2012 model year will be available in four trim levels, including L, LE, SE, XLE.
The 2012 Toyota Camry price list starts at $21,245 USD for the base, L model, and goes up to $29,845 USD for the XLE V6 version.
