Toyota Press Release:

ALL TOYOTA CAMRYS TO HAVE VSC AND TRACTION CONTROL

Australia's most popular mid-size car, the Toyota Camry, now has enhanced passive safety following Toyota's decision to make Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC) standard

across the entire range.

From August 2007 production, Camry Altise, Ateva and Sportivo will join the top-of-the-line Grande, which has had VSC and TRC as standard since July 2006.

VSC helps maintain vehicle stability during cornering, and TRC helps optimise traction when accelerating on slippery surfaces.

The entire Camry range now has a full active safety package, including VSC and TRC.

It also has Active Braking with Intelligence (AB-i), which incorporates ABS anti-skid brakes with Brake Assist (BA), and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD).

The announcement means that every Toyota vehicle manufactured in Australia has the full active safety package of VSC, TRC and ABS.

"Our research quite clearly shows that one of the major purchase triggers in the medium

four-cylinder market is safety," said David Buttner, Toyota Australia's senior executive director sales and marketing.

"Buyers are risk averse, and are expecting technology such as VSC and TRC to be included as standard equipment on an increasing number of models."

The recommended retail price for Altise will rise $490 on both its manual and automatic variants.

Recommended retail prices for the Camry Ateva and both Sportivo variants will rise $750.

The new Camry has dominated the medium passenger car segment in 2007 with sales of 15,084 to the end of July, more than double its nearest rival which sold 7507.

Toyota has also announced that Camry will be available in three new colours - Tungsten, available across the range, Sakana, available on Camry Altise, Ateva and Grande, and Inferno, which will be available on Sportivo models.
