The new generation 2014 Toyota Highlander Hybrid had its world debut today at the 2013 Los Angeles Motor Show. The new Toyota Highlander Hybrid (2014) is the first ever 7-passenger gas-electric hybrid SUV. The new 2014 Highlander Hybrid is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 DOHC 24-valve with VVT-i engine that develops 231 hp (172 kW) at 5,800 rpm and 215 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm. Toyota equips the new Highlander Hybrid (2014) with three electric motors. One of them is used as a generator and engine starter and controls the transmission ratio. The second one, developing 167 hp (123 kW) and 247 lb.-ft. of torque drives the front wheels and it is used for regeneration during braking. The third one, which develops 68 hp (50 kW) and 103 lb.-ft. of torque, drives the rear wheels and it is also used for regenerative braking.

The total output of the 2014 Highlander Hybrid is rated at 280 hp (209 kW). The power is sent to the wheels via an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission and an electronic all-wheel drive control system.

The 2014 Toyota Highlander Hybrid promises to offer more room for its passenger and their luggage in comparison to its predecessor. The reason for it is that it's 3 inches longer, and 0.5 inches wider.

Toyota equips the 2014 hybrid Highlander with a new 4.2-inch color LCD Multi-Information Display with an Eco driving indicator, perforated leather-trim seats, leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a 60/40 split third bench, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Automatic High Beam Headlights, panoramic moonroof, and heated steering wheel.

The new hybrid Highlander (2014) comes equipped as standard with Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist, an Anti-lock Braking System, Smart Stop Technology, a backup camera and Hill-start Assist Control. Optional safety systems include rear parking sonar, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Alert, and a Pre-collision System.

The 2014 Toyota Highlander Hybrid's price list starts at $47,300 MSRP for the Limited version and it goes up to $49,790 MSRP for the top of the line Platinum model. Here you can review the 2014 Highlander Hybrid's details and specifications.
