2018 Nissan GT R To Get 700 PS Nismo Engine

 »  »  »

Various sources are reporting today that the future generation Nissan GT-R will probably get as much as 700 PS! Apparently, the future generation Nissan GT-R will probably go on sale sometime in 2017. The German press is reporting that Nissan plans to power the future Godzilla with an engine derived from the LM NISMO powerplant, which is currently used in the racing version of the GT-R. The current Nissan GT-R LM Nismo is powered by a hybrid powertrain that includes a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine and an electric motor. The power goes to the wheels via a 5-speed sequential transmission, and a Tilton three-plate carbon clutch. This powertrain puts out 1,250 PS, but in the 2018 Nissan GT-R it will develop "only" 700 PS.

One of the reasons Nissan is going to de-tune the LM Nismo engine for the 2018 GT-R is to reduce its fuel consumption and to make it more manageable on public roads.

We'll have more details about the future generation of the Nissan GT-R as soon as they're available.
