Nissan GT R Convertible Announced

 »  »  »

Newport Convertible Engineering, an aftermarket specialist from Huntington Beach, California, announced recently they are currently developing a convertible version of the Nissan GT-R. Newport did not release any technical details regarding their convertible GT-R, but they do mention they'll be able to offer three different designs of the open-top Godzilla. Frankly, we're a bit skeptical about Newport's GT-R Convertible. The Nissan GT-R was not developed and built to be a convertible. When you chop its roof off, the car loses rigidity. This in turn, affects its handling. If you try to get a bit of that body rigidity back, you're going to have to strengthen the body you have left. This means you're going to add more weight to the car. This in turn, affects its performance.

Newport's Nissan GT-R Convertible is going to be equipped with a canvas soft-top. We'll have more details about it as soon as they're available.
