A senior source inside Audi has confirmed that the Audi RS5 will hit the showrooms late in 2009 and that the Audi RS5 Cabrio will be launched after that. The same source also confirmed that the Audi RS5 and the Audi RS5 Cabrio will be powered by a naturally aspirated 4.2-litre V8 engine with a power output of 450 hp and 332 lb.-ft. of torque. With this engine, the Audi RS5 will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 4.5 seconds. The engine of the Audi RS5 is actually the same as the one in the RS4, but with a number of modifications.
The same source mentions the fact that the Audi RS5 has undergone a weight saving program and that the Audi RS5 Cabrio will be a soft-top.
The Audi RS5 price will start at around 61,000 Euros, with the convertible version probably being a little more expensive.
