BMW M5 turbo

 »  »  »

The next generation of the BMW M5 has been spied testing on the Nurburgring. Although camouflaged, the next-gen BMW M5 spied on the track clearly shows its origin with the trademark front bumper, the quad exhaust pipes and the large drilled brake discs. Regarding the engine of the next BMW M5 there are a few versions going around. Some say it will be a turbo V10 with a large 5.5-liter displacement. However, the 4.4-liter V8 unit that powers the BMW X5 M and X6 M is a more logical choice. If powered by this engine, the next generation BMW M5 will develop 555 hp at 6,000 rpm and 500 lb.-ft. of torque from 1,500 rpm. Of course this is more power in comparison to the current version of the BMW M5, but it's also available from lower in the rev range.

If the prototype of the next BMW M5 is already running on the 'Ring, we're probably find out soon what the German company will put under its bonnet.
