BMW Project Visio.M

Over the weekend, BMW announced a new concept of electric mass mobility for urban environments, which is called Project Visio.M. BMW is developing the Project Visio.M in collaboration with the Technische Universitaet Muenchen (TUM). Their goal is to develop a vehicle which is inexpensive, light and suitable for mass transport. The 10.8 million Euros required by Project Visio.M comes from the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). Don't expect Project Visio.M to spawn a large electric bus. BMW's approach involves a fleet of small vehicles that are able to satisfy mass transportation. These vehicles should weigh around 400 kg (without the battery) each and have an output of 15 kW. The Visio.M should meet the requirements of the European regulatory category L7e.

Currently, they are exploring the possibility of increasing the safety of such a vehicle, which should offer the same level of protection as a regular car. We’ll have more information about BMW's Project Visio.M as soon as it is available.
