Ford announced today that the EPA declared the 2011 Ford F150 and the new Ranger the most fuel efficient pickup trucks. In a recent document released by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) the new 3.7-liter V6 engine puts the Blue Oval in the top most fuel efficient truck manufacturers. The 2011 Ford F150 powered by the V6 unit is rated at 17 mpg in the city, 23 mpg on the highway and at 19 mpg in the combined cycle. This makes the 2011 F150 the best choice in terms of fuel consumption in its class (non-hybrid full-size pickup).
The 2011 Ford Ranger is rated by the EPA with a 22 mpg fuel consumption in the city, 27 mpg on the highway and a combined fuel economy of 24 mpg. This puts the 2011 Range on the first place in the compact segment.
Fords new F150 and the Range have been officially rated by the EPA. The Blue Oval also claims their 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbocharged diesel powered 2011 Super Duty is also the best choice in its class in terms of fuel efficiency. Ford's claims are based on independent testing against General Motors and Ram diesel pickups.
