Eterniti Hemera Teaser

 »  »  »

Eterniti Motors, the British company which announced last month that they are going to build the world's first super SUV, called the Hemera, released today a new teaser image of the concept. The Eterniti Hemera is scheduled for debut at this month's Frankfurt auto show, where it hopes it will redefine the notions of luxury, space and performance. Eterniti says that the Hemera features a limousine-like rear cabin, with two reclining seats which have access to a small refrigerator and iPads.

The exact engine specifications of the Eterniti Hemera have not been revealed yet, but the London-based car manufacturer says it will have a 4x4 all-wheel-drive system.

Eterniti says that the Hemera is based on "the latest generation of the best large SUV platform available". This means that the Hemera is based on a currently available 4x4, which could be Porsche's Cayenne, the Mercedes ML or GL, or even BMW's X5 / X6 platform. Judging from the teaser image they released, we belive that the Hemera is actually based on the 2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo. The Eterniti Hemera will benefit from a chassis re-build, carbon-composite body panels and more performance than the model it's based on.

Eterniti will present a prototype of the Hemera in Frankfurt. The production version of the SUV

will go on sale at the beginning of 2012. The engineering team who developed the Hemera was led by Alastair Macqueen, who is also 'responsible' for the Jaguar XJ220 supercar. Eterniti also mentions that Formula 1 driver Johnny Herbert is also involved in the development of the Hemera.

We'll have more details on the Eterniti Hemera at the time of its unveiling.
