Kia announced today the K9's specifications, as the new sedan goes on sale on the carmaker's home market. The Kia K9 measures 5,090 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,490 mm in height and it has a 3,045 mm wheelbase. To power the K9 four-door sedan, Kia is using a V6 3.8-litre MPI Lambda engine, which has an official output of 290 PS. Kia plans to launch next year a 3.8-litre GDI version of the K9, which will develop 334 PS. Apart from pretty decent engines, the Kia K9 will also come with a comprehensive list of equipment. For starters, the rear-wheel-drive sedan comes as standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and shift-by-wire (SBW) technology.

Safety conscious customers will be happy to find out that the Kia K9 hide under its hood a Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), a radar-based Blind-Spot Detection system, an Around-View Monitor (AVM) with four cameras and a Smart Cruise Control (SCC) system. The fully adaptive all-LED headlights are also standard.

The Kia K9 will go on sale on various markets starting from the fourth quarter of 2012.
