The British journalists from AutoExpress uncovered the initial details of the Mercedes BLS. Of course, Mercedes did not confirm any information leaked by the UK media outlet. The BLS will be the smaller brother of Merc's CLS four-door coupe, and will measure 4.6 meters in length. It will have the same sleek side profile, and will be more affordable than the CLS. The BLS Class Mercedes will be offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines, including 1.6-litre turbo petrol, 1.8-litre turbo diesel and a 2.1-litre diesel engine. The Mercedes BLS powered by the 1.6-liter gasoline engine will be available in two power levels, 120 bhp with 201 Nm of torque and 154 bhp with 254 Nm of torque, the 1.8-liter diesel will have 107 bhp or 134 bhp and the 2.1 version will develop 168 bhp or 201 bhp.
Daimler will also build a Mercedes BLS AMG, which will come with a 2.0-litre twin-turbo gasoline engine developing around 350 hp.
The Mercedes BLS will be available with either a front-wheel-drive system, or Merc's 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, together with a new multi-link rear suspension. The BLS will feature a manual transmission as standard, but it will also offer the a new seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox as an optional extra. For an improved fuel consumption, Mercedes will equip the BLS with a start/stop

system, together with other fuel saving technologies.
The Mercedes BLS price list will start at around 27,000 EUR, while the AMG version will cost around 51,000 EUR.
Mercedes should release the official details of the BLS Class in the near future.
