The production version of the Porsche 918 Spyder (2014) had its world debut today during the opening day of the 2013 Frankfurt auto show. So far, Porsche did not announce the exact date on which the new Porsche 918 Spyder is going to go on sale, however, we do know that it will be priced from 845,000 USD. The 918 Spyder measures 4,643 mm in length, 1,940 mm in width, 1,167 mm in height and it has a 2,730 mm long wheelbase. It has a weight of 1,634 kg and it promises 2 seats and a 110-litre boot. To power the 918 Spyder, Porsche uses a 4.6-liter V8 petrol engine and two electric motors, each located on one of the axles. The Porsche 918 Spyder's V8 engine develops 608 hp (447 kW) at 8,700 rpm, while the two motors have a combined power output of 286 hp (210 kW) at 6,500 rpm.

Porsche rates the 918 Spyder with a total horsepower output of 887 hp (652 kW) at 8,500 rpm and between 917 Nm and 1,280 Nm, depending on the gear the supercar is in. The Spyder 918 comes with the 7-speed PDK transmission for the internal combustion engine and the rear wheels, and a second transmission on the front axle for the front motor. This second gearbox is decoupled from 235 km/h. The new Porsche 918 comes with an auto Start Stop function, electrical system recuperation, four cooling circuits and a thermal management system.

According to Porsche's official specifications, the 918 Spyder accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.8 seconds, to 124 mph (200 km/h) in 7.7 seconds and to 186 mph (300 km/h) in 22 seconds. The top speed of the 918 Spyder is 345 km/h. In electric-only mode, the new Porsche 918 is able to reach a maximum speed of 150 km/h. According to official tests, the Porsche 918 Spyder has a combined fuel economy of 85 – 94 mpg (3.3–3.0 litres/100 km) and a CO2 emissions level of 70-79 g/km. The 918's range in pure electric mode ranges from 16 km to 31 km. The battery of the 918 can be fully recharged from a regular outlet in four hours, however, you can get the Speed Charging Station (DC) which will accomplish the same task in just 25 minutes.

The Porsche 918 Spyder's drivetrain offers no less than five driving modes. The E-Power mode is the default operating mode. It offers a range of up to 20 miles, a 0-62 mph sprint time of less than 7 seconds and a top speed of 93 mph. The four other modes are : Hybrid, Sport Hybrid, Race Hybrid and Hot Lap. In each of them, the 918 Spyder gives up a bit of range and efficiency for performance's sake.

The Porsche 918 Spyder comes equipped with rear-axle steering, 20-inch wheels, special Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and the Porsche Active Aerodynamic (PAA) system. There's also the optional Weissach package, which offers special exterior finishes, super lightweight magnesium wheels (weigh 35 less than the standard ones), six-point harness seat belts, carbon fiber body parts. The 918 Spyder comes with a removable carbon roof.
