Renault revealed the Frendzy concept ahead of its 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show this fall. The Frendzy concept is the fourth step in Renault's design strategy, which started with the DeZir, Captur and R-Space. As Renault says, the Frendzy represents "the world of work", which basically means it previews a future commercial vehicle. The Frendzy was developed under the leadership of Laurens van den Acker to meet the needs of business users and / or families.

The Renault Frendzy has an asymmetric body and measures 4,091 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width, and 1,743 mm in height. With a 2,691 mm wheelbase, a 200 mm ground clearance, and a 1,420 kg kerb weight, Renault's Frendzy concept offers a loading capacity of 2,250 liters.

To power the Frendzy, Renault uses an electric motor, juiced by Lithium–ion batteries, which develops 44 kW (60 hp) and 226 Nm of torque. Renault's new concept features a direct drive transmission with reverse, and has a top speed of 130 km/h.

Renault equips the Frendzy with a range of interesting gadgets, such as a BlackBerry PlayBook that controls a 37-inch digital screen mounted on the sliding rear door, a fabric roof which adapts to the shape of bulky objects, and magnetic fixings for securing objects to the floor of the concept.

The Renault Frendzy also comes with a slate board mounted in the rear cabin for children to sketch on, and two color ambient lighting. Renault also fitted their Frendzy concept with a touch-sensitive pad which slides from the driver's seat, that's useful for watching movies or gaming if you travel on the rear seats.
