Renault revealed today the Twizy F1 Concept, which was built using technology developed by the French carmaker for their Formula 1 race car. The Renault Twizy F1 is fitted with the wheels of a single-seater race car, a front splitter, side-pods, a large rear wing and a diffuser with an F1-style rain light. The rain light comes from a Formula Renault 3.5 car and it features LEDs instead of the traditional light bulbs. The Twizy F1 comes equipped with a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) inspired by the one used for the Renault-powered Formula 1 cars. The KERS system offers 100 hp almost instantly and Renault says that the Twizy F1 can accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) just as fast as the Megane RS 265. The KERS system of the Twizy F1 as installed where its rear seat used to be.

Renault also fitted the Twizy F1 with an F1-type steering wheel.

The Renault Twizy F1 Concept weighs just 564 kg, which is 86 kg less than a Formula 1 car. Thanks to an output of 97 hp, the Twizy F1 has a weight-to-power ratio of 5.8 kg/hp. When the KERS is active (for 13 seconds max), the Twizy F1 Concept has an additional 80 hp. Renault says that the Twizy F1 is capable of reaching a top speed of 68 mph.
