Dodge revealed recently the new SRT Viper GT3-R, which they plan to compete with in the legendary 24 Hour of Le Mans race and the American Le Mans Series (ALMS). The SRT Viper GT3-R was built in collaboration with Riley Technologies and it's going to compete in the LM GTE Pro Class. Dodge powers the SRT Viper GT3-R with an 8.4-liter V10 engine. Even though SRT did not disclose the actual output of this engine, we suspect it's good for around 680 hp and 868 Nm of torque. The GT3-R Viper comes with optimized aerodynamics, an Xtrac 6-speed sequential transmission with paddle shifters, a multi-disc race clutch, 6-piston brake calipers on the front axle and with 4-piston ones for the rear axle. The race car is also fitted with lightweight wheels.

The GT3-R is a logical evolution of the SRT Viper GTS-R, which has proven to be a very successful race car in the past. Apparently, various technical achievements brought by the GTS-R have been integrated into the new GT3-R Viper. These systems include engine parts, and various chassis, suspension, electronics and aerodynamic components.

The SRT Viper GT3-R's price has been set at $459,000 USD. SRT expects it will start delivering the Viper GT3-R towards the end of this year.
