Apart from the production version of the new Viper, Chrysler also revealed today in New York their latest Le Mans racecar - the SRT Viper GTS-R. The SRT Viper GTS-R will compete in the 2012 season of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), with drivers Dominik Farnbacher, Marc Goossens, Ryan Hunter-Reay and Kuno Wittmer behind the steering wheel. To develop the new Viper GTS-R, SRT Motorsports collaborated with Riley Technologies, from Mooresville, N.C. Two Viper GTS-R racecars will compete in ALMS in the production-based GT class.

As you're probably expecting, no specifications of the SRT Viper GTS-R have been revealed. However, the images released by Chrysler today do tell part of the story.

In comparison to the street legal SRT Viper, the GTS-R comes with new aerodynamics, a huge rear wing, competition wheels and tires and a modified exhaust. We're sure other racing equipment, such as bucket seats and a roll cage, has also been installed.
