 »  »  »

This video surfaced the web recently, showing the first drag race between the 2012 BMW M5, which hasn't been premiered yet, and the previous, 2005 E60 M5. The clip's description says it was filmed on the German Autobahn, which is one of the few places in the world with no speed limits. The driver of the 2005 M5 E60 says he managed to pass the 2012 BMW M5 prototype only after he went over the 290 km/h mark. He estimates that the 2012 BMW M5 F10 test vehicle, whish is still wearing camouflage, was running with 270-280 km/h. could this mean that the production version of the 2012 M5 will by limited to a top speed above the 155 mph (250 km/h) mark?

The 2012 BMW M5 Concept was unveiled at the beginning of this month at the Shanghai auto

show. BMW says it will be powered by a new twin-turbo V8 engine coupled with a seven-speed M double-clutch gearbox.
