Video: 2012 Nissan GT R Launch Control

In this next video, Captain Slow James May from Top Gear is getting bit faster by demonstrating the launch control procedure for the 2012 Nissan GT-R. Mr. May tests the Nissan GT-R's ability to get off the line on the Top Gear test track and he's very impressed, to say the least. In Jeremy Clarkson's own words: "it's like sitting on a time bomb". Captain Slow launches the 2012 GT-R several times. This was not possible with the previous version, since using the launch control voided the warranty.

The 2012 Nissan GT-R facelift, which is available in several versions now, comes with an updated 3.8-liter biturbo V6 engine and a revised transmission. It outputs 530 PS at 6,400 rpm and 612 Nm of torque between 3,200 and 6,000 rpm.

This massive amount of power, coupled with the launch control function, makes the facelifted GT-R get from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3 seconds.

Watch James May launch the Nissan GT-R facelift in the video below.
