New 2012 Mazda MX5 info has surfaced the web as the British press has started speculating again on the future open-top model. Apparently, the 2012 Mazda MX5 will get the company's new 1.6 and 1.8-litre engines which have been announced as part of the SKY-G program. The engine of the future 2012 Mazda MX5 has already been showcased in the Kiyora concept which is able to offer a 3.1 liter per 100km fuel consumption. The power output of the 2012 Mazda MX5 is not known at the moment though.

The 2012 Mazda MX5 might also receive the company's SKY Drive automatic transmission which was previewed at the Tokyo auto show last year. However, this is pure speculation at the moment.

What we can be sure of is that the 2012 Mazda MX5 will offer better fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions, while keeping its healthy torque output.

As far as the design of the next generation 2012 Mazda MX5 goes, expect to see a rather dramatic change. The company says it will no longer use the Nagare design language, which means the 2012 Mazda MX5 will have a completely new face.
