Mazda revealed today the facelifted version of the MX5 (2013) in both its forms, convertible and coupe roadster. The 2013 Mazda MX5 facelift comes with a more aggressive look and innovative new safety features. In comparison to its predecessor, the 2013 MX5 facelift comes with slightly modified headlights, a larger front grille, a new front bumper with an integrated splitter and re-styled fog lights. Mazda left the rear of the facelifted MX5 (2013) pretty much untouched. As far as the interior of the MX5 facelift goes, we were able to spot just a few minor changes brought to the roadster's center console. For a better driving experience, Mazda optimized the acceleration management program of the 2013 MX5 (in the manual shift mode) to improve the acceleration control and to offer a more linear response to throttle input.

The 2013 Mazda MX5 also comes with an optimized vacuum brake booster and an enhanced brake return control. These modifications should improve the handling of the roadster, especially on winding roads.

Mazda equips the 2013 MX5 facelift with active bonnet system that raises the hood in the event of a collision with a pedestrian. This should reduce the injuries cause by a hypothetic accident. The facelifted Mazda MX5 (2013) is going to be available with a choice between a 1.8-litre MZR engine with 126 PS and a five-speed manual transmission, or a 2.0-litre MZR unit with 160 PS and an automatic or manual 6-speed gearbox. The 2013 Mazda MX5's price list has not been announced yet.
