The Japanese carmaker revealed today at the 2014 SEMA show the new 2015 Mazda MX5 Cup race car, which is going to compete in a new Global Cup series, in North America, Europe and Asia. The Mazda Global MX5 Cup series is going to debut in 2016. The final race, the Global Shootout, will take place at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, at the end of 2016. The 2015 Mazda MX5 Cup racecar is powered by a 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G four cylinder engine. Its specs, horsepower and torque output as well as other technical details are going to be announced at a later date. Mazda is going to start developing the tires, suspension, powertrain and safety features of the 2015 MX5 Cup this winter. Each 2015 Mazda MX5 Cup is going to be sold "ready to race" from a single supplier.
