2012 Nissan Juke R

The Nissan Juke-R was officially announced today. The Juke-R is going to be a high performance version of Nissan’s crossover. Previously known as the Super Juke, the 2012 Nissan Juke-R will have the same naming scheme and performance as the GT-R supercar. Currently, the Nissan Juke-R is seen as a one-off project It’s purpose is to test the public's reaction to a high performance crossover. In case the Juke-R gets a positive reaction, Nissan will probably put it into production. The Nissan Juke-R is built to be completely road legal, with the help of a GT-R drivetrain.

This means that the Nissan Juke-R will be powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine developing 530 PS at 6,400 rpm and 612 Nm (62.5 kgfm) of torque between 3,200 and 6,000 rpm.

With this monster under its hood, the GT-R is able to rocket from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 3 seconds. The Nissan Juke-R is expected to be faster than that, since it has a lower weight. However, we believe that the Juke-R’s engine will be tuned to output less than the GT-R's, but this is just speculation at the moment.

Apart from the powerplant, the Juke-R will also receive the same 6-speed transaxle transmission as the GT-R, together with modified 4WD driveline and prop shaft, since the crossover has a shorter wheelbase.

The Juke-R will sit on 20-inch RAYS forged alloys.

Apart from the extra horsepower, the Nissan Juke-R will also feature a new aerodynamics package, which will include wider wheel arches, new front and rear bumpers, and an interesting looking, split rear wing.

At the interior, the Nissan Juke-R will feature a modified dashboard, with the same gauges, dials and 7-inch customizable LCD display as the GT-R. Apart from the LCD, the Juke-R will also come with racing bucket seats with five-point harnesses, and a FIA approved visible roll cage.

Nissan Technology Center for Europe (NTC-E) is currently developing the Juke-R in collaboration with Ray Mallock Limited (RML), with which it has developed several projects since 1990. The Japanese car manufacturer announced that the Juke-R will begin testing in November.
