VW revealed the preliminary specs of the future generation, 2015 Volkswagen Passat. The new Volkswagen Passat (2015) comes with extensive updates as far as engines and equipment levels are concerned. The 2015 will also feature a completely new exterior and interior design, as well as modified proportions. The world premiere of the 2015 Volkswagen Passat is going to take place in July, and its first public appearance is scheduled for the Paris Motor Show in October. The 2015 Passat is going to be the eight generation of the model. Thanks to extensive use of aluminum, the new Passat (2015) is 85 kg lighter than its predecessor. This is going to improve its fuel economy by up to 20 percent over its previous version.
Even though the 2015 Passat’s exterior dimensions are smaller than those of its predecessor, Volkswagen says it's going to offer more interior space for its passengers and their luggage.
The 2015 VW Passat is going to introduce a new engine. It's a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder bi-turbo diesel powertrain that develops 240 PS and 500 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. This engine is going to be mated to the 7-speed DSG transmission and the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system. The 2015 VW Passat Hybrid promises to offer a maximum range of 600 miles, with an electric-only range of up to 31 miles.
The equipment list of the new VW Passat (2015) is going to include the Active Info Display that features a fully configurable interactive 12.3-inch TFT display. The new Passat will also come equipped with a heads-up display, the latest generation Modular Infotainment System, the Car-Net remote app, a 360-degree Area View function, Park Assist, and Trailer Assist. Park Assist will enable the 2015 Passat to park itself.
The safety equipment that's going to be available on the new Passat (2015) includes Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert, Traffic Jam Assist, Emergency Assist, Front Assist system with City Emergency Braking. The 2015 Passat will feature LED light all-around and Dynamic Light Assist.
The 2015 Volkswagen Passat's price list and availability are going to be announced towards the end of this year.
