The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider had its world debut at this year's Geneva Motor Show. The Italian carmaker says it's going to put it into production sometime next year. Just as the coupe, the spider version of the Alfa Romeo 4C is powered by a 4-cylinder 1750 turbocharged petrol engine that's mated to a 6-speed, dual dry-clutch TCT gearbox. The engine of the Alfa 4C Spider delivers 240 hp at 6,000 rpm and 350 Nm of torque between 2,200 rpm and 4,250 rpm. According to Alfa Romeo's official specifications, the 4C Spider accelerates from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.5 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 155 mph. This means it has the exact same performance figures as the coupe. Alfa Romeo also mentions that spider 4C has the same 40:60 front-to-rear weight distribution as the coupe.

The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider weighs 60 kg more than the coupe. The extra weight comes from various structural reinforcements required by safety regulations for open-top vehicles. To keep the weight of the 4C Spider to minimum, Alfa Romeo used carbon rollover bars, spoilers and windscreen frame. For the same reason, the Alfa 4C Spider comes with a canvas soft top.

For the interior of the 4C Spider, Alfa Romeo used mostly carbon fiber and other lightweight materials. The Alfa Romeo 4C Spider is equipped with a dual-stage central exhaust system with titanium and carbon tailpipes by Akrapovic, carbon fiber clamshell headlights, aluminum wheels, and Pirelli tires. The full specifications of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, as well as its price, are going to be announced at a later date.
