FIA, together with Eurosport Events, the promoter of the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), appointed the Alfa Romeo 4C as the safety car for the 2014 season. The track debut of the Alfa Romeo 4C WTCC Safety Car is going to take place on 12 and 13 April on the Moulay El Hassan circuit of Marrakech. Apparently, the award that got the 4C the WTCC Safety Car position is the Grand Prize as Most Beautiful Car of 2013 at the 29th International Automobile Festival of Paris. The Alfa Romeo 4C is a small, 2-seat coupe, with a mid-engine rear-wheel-drive architecture. Even though it has just 4-cylinders, a 1,750 cc engine, and a turbocharger, thanks to its low weight, it can get from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.5 seconds. Its top speed is 258 km/h. It can also pull 1.1 Gs when cornering.

According to Alfa's official specs, the 4C develops 240 hp (176 kW) at 6,000 rpm. The Alfa Romeo 4C comes with a TCT dry twin clutch transmission that now offers a "Race" mode. Alfa Romeo says that the 4C sets new standards for its class with a specific power of 137 hp/l and specific torque of 200 Nm/l.
