BMW ePatrol Concept

The BMW ePatrol Concept is going to be the German carmaker's competitor in the 2012 LA Auto Show Design Challenge. BMW Group DesignworksUSA imagined the ePatrol concept with a modular structure and drone technology. BMW ePatrol's main structure can deploy three drones, among which, the top one is able to fly. The other two drones, which are attached to the rear of the ePatrol vehicle, have one wheel each. The officer is sitting in the main structure of the BMW ePatrol and, depending on his needs, he's able to send one of the two rear drones, or the flying one, in pursuit of the perpetrator. This is especially useful while patrolling crowded roads. Each of the drones can send an impulse to stop the vehicle they're pursuing.

The interior design of the BMW ePatrol is inspired by a woven structure made of aluminum wire inside carbon fiber and polymer resin. All the interio9r surfaces of the ePatrol vehicle are in fact a touchscreen. BMW's new patrol vehicle has no windows, and the traditional windscreen is replaced by a large screen. This enhances the safety of the officers inside.
