BMW is planning to enter yet another market segment with the Active Tourer Outdoor concept. Announced back in June, the BMW Active Tourer Outdoor concept is going to have its world debut at the OutDoor Friedrichshafen fair. With the Active Tourer Outdoor, BMW aims to show a new way of using the interior space of a premium compact car for both sport and leisure. The Active Tourer Outdoor concept measures 4,350 mm in length, 1,833 mm in width, and 1,576 mm in height. It has a 2,670-millimetre wheelbase. The Active Tourer Outdoor is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that includes a 1.5-liter TwinPower turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor. The total output of the Active Tourer Outdoor is 140 kW/190 hp.

According to BMW, the new concept is able to get from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 8 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 125 mph (200 km/h). That's not very impressive. However, what is impressive is its efficiency. The BMW Active Tourer Outdoor is rated with a fuel consumption of just 113 mpg imp (2.5 litres per 100 kilometers) and a CO2 emissions level of just 60 g/km.

The BMW Active Tourer Outdoor comes with a few other highlights too. Its interior is made using easy-care, hard-wearing materials such as MoonWhite and MoonRock Grey leather. It can carry two bicycles inside thanks to a clever new system. All the details and specifications of the BMW Active Tourer Outdoor are available here.
