BMW Concept Active Tourer Outdoor

BMW announced today that they’re going to revealed the new Concept Active Tourer Outdoor on 12 July 2013 in Friedrichshafen. According to BMW, the Active Tourer Outdoor concept represents "new terrain" for the German carmaker. This probably means that the Active Tourer Outdoor is a new type of vehicle for BMW. The first Active Tourer concept, which had its premiere back in April, previews BMW' first ever MPV. This could suggest that the Outdoor Active Tourer could preview some type of all-terrain people carrier, but this is just speculation at the moment. BMW says that the Active Tourer Outdoor has a leisure time oriented target group and that it combines a dynamic design with comfort and a high degree of functionality.

In case the BMW Concept Active Tourer Outdoor is based on the concept revealed by the carmaker just a few months ago, it means it has a plug-in hybrid powertrain. This powertrain includes an electric motor, obviously, and a 1.5-litre TwinPower turbocharged petrol engine. This could also mean that the BMW Active Tourer Outdoor is all-wheel-drive. The engine drives the front wheels and the motor the rear ones. We'll have more details about the Active Tourer Outdoor as soon as BMW makes them available.
