Dodge announced over the weekend that it will enter the Global RallyCross Championship with the new Dart. The Dart RallyCross car will be driven by 17-time X Games Gold Medalist and 4-time Rally America Champion Travis Pastrana. So far, Chrysler did not disclose of lot of details about their new rally car. We did learn however, that the Dodge Dart RallyCross car will be powered by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, 16-valve turbocharged engine developing around 600 hp and 550 lb.-ft. of torque. Being a rally car, the new Dart RallyCross will be equipped with an all-wheel-drive system and a Sedav four-wheel-drive transmission.

Judging from the sketch released by Dodge, the RallyCross Dart will come with new aerodynamics, meant to increase downforce on both of the car's axles, a huge rear wing and a racing interior.

Since RallyCross involves a lot of jumping, the Dart will have a much stiffer and stronger suspensions system in comparison to the production model. Dodge claims that their RallyCross Dart will be able to rocket from 0 to 60 mph in just 1.9 seconds.

You'll be able to watch the Dodge Dart RallyCross in action for the first time on May 26 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
