Jaguar F Type Spied

Well, not really. Jaguar released this week a set of "official" spy images of the future F-Type. The announcement that the Jaguar F-Type is in development was made yesterday at the 2012 New York International Auto show by Adrian Hallmark, the carmaker's Global Brand Director. Jaguar's F-Type is a two-seat roadster, with a canvas retractable top, which will be unveiled in production form towards the end of this year. Jaguar says that the "heart will beat stronger than ever before" in the F-Type. Could this mean that the F-Type is going to be a seriously powerful machine? Its retractable rear wing does seem point in this direction.

The Jaguar F-Type will be lightweight, since it's based on an all-aluminum construction, and it will be powered by a range of petrol engines.

Jaguar also promises that the F-Type will introduce a completely new range of engines too. At launch, the F-Type will be available as a convertible only. However, this suggests that a coupe version of the F-Type is also under development.

The F-Type is currently undergoing road testing, but it will be put on sale at the middle of 2013. Its price has not been announced yet. Follow the jump to watch an introduction of the Jaguar F-Type made by racing legend Martin Brundle.
