Jaguar premiered last night in Paris the new F-Type convertible, which can already be ordered. The Jaguar F-Type is going to be available in three versions: standard, S and the F-Type V8 S. Jaguar's inspiration for the new F-Type's design is the C-X16 concept, unveiled last year. The convertible comes with deployable door handles and an active rear spoiler, which reduces lift by up to 120kg. One interesting design aspect of the F-Type is its asymmetric cabin, which has a "one plus one" layout, focusing on driver involvement. Another distinctive element includes the deployable vents on top of the center console. The Jaguar F-Type is built upon a rigid and lightweight aluminum architecture and it comes with rear-wheel drive.
It has an all-aluminum double wishbone front and rear suspension and a quick-ratio steering rack.
The base Jaguar F-Type is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine, which is available in two power levels. The entry level outputs 340 PS at 6500 rpm and 450 Nm of torque between 3500 and 5000 rpm, while the Jaguar F-Type S is good for 380PS at 6500 rpm and 460 Nm of torque between 3500 and 5000 rpm. The top of the range Jaguar F-Type V8 S is powered by a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine that puts out 495 PS at 6500 rpm and 625 Nm of torque between 2500 and 5500 rpm. The F-Type V8 S is able to get from nought to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds and to reach a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h). All the specifications of the new F-Type are found here.
Jaguar's new F-Type has an 8-speed Quickshift transmission, which features Dynamic Launch feature in the V6 S model. For a better "soundtrack" Jaguar is offering an active exhaust system.
The Jaguar F-Type's price list starts at £58,500 GBP and it goes up to £67,500 GBP for the V6 S version. The F-Type V8 S is going to cost you at least £79,950 GBP.
