Kia revealed today the Cross GT Concept, ahead of its global debut which is going to take place at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. The styling of the Kia Cross GT Concept hints at the Korean carmaker's future design language, which is inspired by the power of nature. With the Cross GT Concept, Kia previews a future full-size luxury crossover, featuring a raised stance and a large cargo area. Designed in Kia's Design Center America (KDCA) in Irvine, California, the Cross GT Concept comes with short overhangs, a long wheelbase and an aggressively wide stance. The Cross GT measures 192.8 inches in length, 79.1-inches in width, and 65.3 inches in height. It has a 122.0-inch long wheelbase. Kia says that its production version is going to be equipped with an all-wheel-drive system.

The Kia Cross GT is powered by a hybrid drivetrain that includes a 3.8-liter V6 engine, which is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with torque-vectoring. Kia's Cross GT is also equipped with an electric motor located between the internal combustion engine and the transmission. The total output of the Cross GT is rated at 400 hp and 500 lb.-ft. of torque. In electric only mode, Cross GT's maximum range is rated at 20-miles.

Some of the distinctive design features of the Kia Cross GT include the dual rear-hinged doors, the rear bucket seats and the 'clam shell' design of the tailgate. It comes with LED technology, Almond-Terra-colored leather-covered bucket seats, and a re-harvested American Walnut instrument panel.

So far, Kia did not say when it is going to put the Cross GT into production.
