Lamborghini Urus Concept

The Volkswagen Group's Italian supercar maker revealed over the weekend a more expensive version of the Porsche Cayenne - the Lamborghini Urus. The Urus concept is built on the same platform as the Cayenne, but it features Lamborghini styling and a much more powerful engine. The Urus is not Lamborghini's first attempt at building an SUV. Back in 1986 they premiered the LM002 - a 12-cylinder, 450-hp monster, which failed at becoming a market success. Maybe Porsche's recipe for a high-performance SUV will work better for Lamborghini. Measuring 4,990 mm in length, 1,660 mm in height and 1,990 in width, the Lamborghini Urus will be a 440 kW (600 hp) permanent all-wheel-drive rocket. However, we doubt it will outperform any established SUVs in the off-road department.

The production version of the Urus concept will probably be the most practical Lamborghini ever made. It promises four seats, plenty of luggage space, and variable ground clearance. Lamborghini says that the Urus has been conceived as an everyday vehicle, which will also be appropriate for families. At the interior, the Urus will feature a newly developed material, based on carbon fiber, which is called Forged Composite. Lamborghini also claims that the Urus will have the lowest CO2 emissions of all comparable vehicles. This is true, since the Urus is basically the only vehicle of this kind on the market today.

To reduce the CO2 emissions and fuel consumption of the Urus, Lamborghini made it as lightweight as possible. They also equipped the new SUV with adaptive aerodynamics, which include the adjustable front and rear spoilers, and the deflector located on the upper edge of the windshield.

In terms of exterior design, the Lamborghini Urus shows a strong, muscular appearance, with a wide stance and bulging rear wheel arches. The SUV comes with LED lights all-around, 24-inch alloys, cameras instead of the traditional side mirrors, and unique exhaust pipes. If you're searching for a meaner, "up to no good" version of the Cayenne, which looks to be out searching for trouble, the Urus is the answer. When you'll step inside the Urus, you'll have no doubt that you're at the wheel of a Lamborghini. Sharp angles, carbon fiber and a dashboard that will make even Starship Enterprise jealous, create a feeling which only Lamborghini is able to offer.

Lamborghini says the aim is to produce around 3,000 units of the Urus annually, but they don't mention its price. We believe its price tag will be a lot higher than 100,000 EUR.
