Maserati Ghibli Revealed

 »  »  »

Maserati has just revealed the new Ghibli four-door sedan, which is going to have its world debut towards the end of this month in Shanghai. We're not really sure why the carmaker has decided to premiere the Maserati Ghibli in Asia, but we're sure it will go on sale across the globe in the following months. Maserati calls the Ghibli a four-door sports executive saloon and hopes they'll be able to sell around 50,000 of them each year. Maserati's Ghibli promises to be a lot sportier in comparison to its larger sibling, the Quattroporte. From the launch, the Ghibli is going to be available with a choice between two turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engines. Maserati has not yet disclosed the horsepower and torque output of these engines.

However, they do mention that the Ghibli is going to have an 8-speed automatic transmission. For the Ghibli, Maserati plans to offer two drive systems: a rear-wheel drive one and an all-wheel drive one, called Q4.

The Ghibli is going to be the first ever Maserati to be sold with 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine. This shows that Maserati is planning to extend its market appeal, and to reach customers with smaller pockets, who are looking for a more efficient vehicle.

Judging from the images released by Maserati, The Ghibli is going to be equipped with ventilated brakes discs on all four corners, LED DRLs, LED rear lights and a new exhaust system with four tail pipes. At the interior, the Ghibli is all Maserati. The carmaker uses carbon fiber, leather, chrome and aluminum to decorate the new sedan's cabin.

We'll have more details regarding the Maserati Ghibli as soon as they're available.
