Mercedes A Class AMG Confirmed

 »  »  »

The rumors of a possible AMG version of the Mercedes A Class started years ago, and recently, the German manufacturer confirmed that it's in their immediate production plans. The AMG A Class will be powered by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbo engine developing between 320 hp and 350 hp. The engine will be coupled with an all-wheel-drive system and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. These specifications have not been confirmed yet.

In terms of looks, the new AMG model will look almost identical to the 2012 Mercedes A Class Concept premiered at the 2011 New York Auto Show. Company officials clearly stated that the new generation 2012 Mercedes A Class will bare close resemblance to the concept. This is a bit unexpected taking into account the concept's bold exterior styling.

The Mercedes A Class AMG will be a four-door hatchback basically, and will probably feature all the AMG trademarks. These might include the double twin exhaust pipes featured by all AMG models so far.

Mercedes will fit the AMG A Class with various efficiency enhancing features, such as Start / Stop technology.

We'll have more details on the Mercedes A Class AMG as soon as they're available.
