The British press has uncovered new Mercedes A22 AMG info and even managed to get a few snapshots of a clay model of the new model. The Mercedes A22 AMG will be based on the future generation of the A Class which expected to be unveiled sometime this year. The Mercedes A22 AMG will be powered by new engine developing around 270 hp and will be equipped with the company's new seven-speed DSG transmission as standard. This will make the Mercedes A22 AMG Daimler's second model to be equipped with this gearbox, after the mighty SLS AMG.

The 2012 A Class will be made available in both three-door and five-door variants, but at this point, it's not certain which will be used for the Mercedes A22 AMG. Maybe both.

The Mercedes A22 AMG, together with the 2012 Mercedes A Class, have been designed for a younger audience. It will feature LED daytime running lights, and will get a more hatchback body style, in comparison to the MPV-like one of the current version.

The 2012 Mercedes A Class is expected to come with various petrol and diesel engines, including 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol powered units, and a 1.8-litre direct injection gasoline engine. The diesel range of the 2012 Mercedes A Class will include a 1.6-liter unit and a more

powerful 2.1-liter engine.

We'll have more details on the future Mercedes A22 AMG as soon as they're available.
