Mercedes finally revealed today the new AMG high-performance version of the new A-Class - the A45 AMG. The Mercedes A45 AMG is going to have its world debut at the beginning of next month at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show and it will go on sale on 8 April 2013. Mercedes-Benz will start delivering the A45 AMG in June and July, depending on the market. The A45 AMG's price has not been announced yet. We'll get straight to the business part of the new A45. To power the A45 AMG, Mercedes chose a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that develops 360 hp (265 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 450 Nm of torque between 2,250 rpm and 5,000 rpm. This means that the A45 AMG has the most powerful series production engine of its kind in the world.

Merc's official specs of the A45 AMG say it can accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds and to reach a top peed of 155 mph (250 km/h) (electronically limited). The Mercedes A45 AMG is rated with a combined fuel economy of 39.7 – 40.9 mpg (UK / NEDC) or 6.9 – 7.1 l/100 km (EU). The A45 AMG comes with a twin-scroll turbocharger with a maximum pressure of 1.8 bar, which aims to reduce the turbo-lag as much as possible. The Mercedes A45 does not feature AMG's trademark quad-tailpipe exhaust system, but it does have an automatically controlled flap to get that distinctive soundtrack.

The engine of the A45 AMG is mated SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission that comes with a double-declutching function and a RACE START mode (launch control). The Mercedes A45 AMG comes with a "Momentary M mode", which enables the driver to put the gearbox in the manual mode without taking the hands of the steering wheel.

The Mercedes A45 AMG comes with 4MATIC all-wheel drive system as standard that comes with a 50:50 split of the torque between the two axels. Does this mean Mercedes is having its eye on the World Rally Championship? The Mercedes A45 AMG features a 3-stage ESP with ESP Curve Dynamic Assist, a sport suspension system, speed-sensitive sports steering and performance brakes with ventilated and perforated discs (350 x 32 mm front and 330 x 22 mm rear).

The distinctive styling features of the Mercedes A45 AMG include a new aerodynamic package with various carbon fiber parts, 19-inc alloys and various interior trim parts.
