Shelby American announced today that they're going to offer fifty 289 FIA Cobra special edition cars to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the model. The FIA version of the small block Shelby Cobra had its world debut in the 1964 World Manufacturers Championship series. This special edition Shelby 289 FIA Cobra comes with Viking Blue exterior finish, stripes and roundels, a black interior, billet anniversary badges, distinctive wheels, and various other options. The world debut of the new Shelby 289 FIA Cobra took place at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014. This CSX7000 Shelby 289 FIA Cobra weighs just 2,100 lbs., which means it’s the lightest ever built.

It comes with a V8 engine and promises the best power-to-weight ratio possible.

The Shelby 289 FIA Cobra comes with a new dashboard, wider front and rear fenders, cut-back doors, new dampers, racing wheels, oil cooler scoops and a competition spec small block engine. The Shelby 289 FIA Cobra's price starts at $94,995 for the fiberglass body version and at $159,995 for the aluminum car.
