SsangYong is making yet another attempt at entering the mainstream European car market with the XIV-2 Concept. SsangYong's second XIV concept was unveiled yesterday at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, and it could very well preview a future production model. We have to admit that the XIV-2 benefits from a much more fortunate exterior design than everything we've ever seen from SsangYong. The XIV-2 measures 4,166 mm in length, 1,820 mm in width, 1,566 in height and it's powered by a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine. SsangYong rates the XIV-2 with an output of 125 PS and 158 Nm of torque. SsangYong XIV-2 can be equipped with a 1.6L diesel engine too, in which case it delivers 130 PS and 300 Nm of torque. Available with both a 6-speed manual and an automatic transmission, the XIV-2 comes as a 4x4 all-wheel-drive, convertible CUV (crossover utility vehicle).

SsangYong says that the XIV-2 is developed to support various body styles, including a 5-door, 3-door, coupe and an extended version. The XIV-2 concept unveiled in Geneva however is a 3-door convertible, featuring a one-touch automatic fabric roof.

For the interior of the XIV-2, SsangYong uses four independent bucket seats and an Auto User Interface, which provides Smartphone connectivity. Throughout the cabin of the XIV-2, SsangYong uses such materials as aluminum and carbon fiber, which could be lost in the concepts way to production form.
