Tesla Model X

A few hours ago, Tesla revealed their latest model, the electric Model X, which aims to combine the benefits of an SUV with the characteristics of a minivan. The Tesla Model X, which offers space for seven passengers and their luggage, promises good handling, thanks to a low center of gravity. Its power comes from a Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive system, which is capable of accelerating it from 0 to 60 mph in just 5 seconds. This is faster than most SUVs and minivans on the market today. To juice its electric heart, the Model X can use a 60 or 85 kWh battery.

The Model X comes with distinctive exterior styling, but it manages to keep the brand's identity, which started with the Tesla Model S.

We're sure most of you are familiar with the gullwing doors of the new Mercedes SLS. Well, the Tesla Model X comes with Falcon Wings. It’s a similar system, but we guess they wanted a more aggressive name for it. The Model X's falcon wings have a somewhat different opening / closing system, which will allow their operation in narrower spaces.

The Model X promises easy access to the third row of seats, even if a child seat is installed on the second bench. Tesla managed to accomplish this by making the second row of seats slide all the way forward.

At the interior, the Tesla Model X features a very interesting center console, which is dominated by a huge touchscreen. The electric MPV / SUV also comes with panoramic glass and various high-end materials.

The Model X's price has not been announced, but Tesla says it will put it into production next year. The first deliveries will begin in 2014.
