Tesla Sues Top Gear

 »  »  »

Our sources are reporting today that Tesla Motors is suing Top Gear and the BBC for rigging the test they did on their Lotus Elise based electric sports car, the Roadster. This comes only one month after Top Gear insulted Mexico in one of the episodes of the 16th season. It looks like the popular British TV show is attracting more and more disapproval with every new season they film.

Tesla Motors filed a writ at the High Court because they believe Top Gear's test of the Roadster is biased and is distorting reality. They especially disapprove the part where the Tesla Roadster runs out of electricity and is being left in the garage for re-charging. The tension between Tesla and Top Gear is being

aggravated by Jeremy Clarkson's remark that the Roadster is "not working in the real world".

Tesla says the events in the episode where Top Gear reviews the Roadster are faked, and that the brakes on the test car were not really broken.

Apparently, the UK director of Tesla was aware of the rigged test, even before the Roadster was even driven by Top Gear.
