Honda released today the full details of the updated 2012 Pilot, together with the SUV's specifications and price list. The 2012 Honda Pilot, which will be available in four trim levels (LX, EX, EX-L and Touring), is powered by a 3471 cc V6 engine developing 250 hp at 5,700 rpm and 253 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm. Honda's 2012 Pilot will be avaialbe with onlt one gearbox option, a 5-speed automatic, and with a choice between a two-wheel-drive system and an all-wheel-drive one. The fuel consumption of the 2012 Pilot in the combined cycle is rated, depending on the trim level, between 24 mpg and 25 mpg.
In terms of exterior design, Honda's 2012 Pilot features a new front grille and fascia, newly designed multi-reflector halogen headlights
and turn signals, and a new front air dam. The new Honda Pilot is 0.5 inches longer than its predecessor, it has the same 7.97 inch ground clearence. At the interior, Honda gave the 2012 Pilot a newly designed intrument panel, a glossy black center console, and larger storage spaces.
A novelty brought by the 2012 Honda Pilot is an improvmenet of the car's NVH, which includes various modifications of the insulation and suspension system meant to reduce the noise inside the cabin.
For safety, the 2012 Pilot comes equipped with Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, the Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS), and Vehicle Stability Assist. The Japanese car maker hopes that the new version of the Pilot will receive a NHTSA 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score for safety.
The 2012 Honda Pilot price list starts at $28,470 USD for the LX 2WD model and gioes up to $40,820 USD for the Touring with Navi and Rear Entertainment System (4WD) version.
